The newest raid in Destiny 2 has been out for nearly a month; and it’s a pretty fun raid. It requires each team member to have some way to communicate with their fireteam, a 930ish light level recommendations, and a willingness to do the same thing hoping for rng (random number generator, basically the gaming equivalent of luck) to line up with your team’s skill (or lack thereof). My fireteam consisted of a friend and four people that I didn’t know. We made it all the way to the final stage of the raid, but weren’t able to complete it. That being said I’m gonna give you all the tips and tricks to help you and your fireteam push through this raid. It’s a four part raid, so I’ll cover it as such.

Part 1 - Leapfrog

The Consecrated Mind, A.K.A. Tendril Harpy

So, as you enter the Garden of Salvation, you’ll see a big, tendril covered, harpy boss. You

don’t want to draw his attention for a bit while you guys figure out who is going to be on which team. Team one will shoot a box that will activate a tether of energy. This is an important mechanic in the raid, as each boss fight in this raid will use it. Those three guardians will then link the tether to a big glowing door. Team one will then push through into the next room, clearing all of the ads that stand in their way. Once they clear the room an “Angelic” Hydra will spawn, once you take this baddie down another tether box will spawn; shoot it once and tether it to the next door, now back to team two.

While this is going on team two will be distracting the boss. It’s invulnerable, so there’s no real reason to shoot it. Every 45 seconds or so it’ll drop a “Voltaic Overflow” buff. If you don’t pick it will result in a party wipe. Each member of the team will pick up the buff once; and if team one has done it’s job, the boss will teleport to the next room. Team two will leapfrog past team one and move on to the next area where they will do what team one the prior step.

Then team one will start picking up buffs until the next team opens the next door. They will then leapfrog past team two and open a door that is blocked by three different energy locks. At this point the boss will have moved to the next area, so you can slow down your pace a little to open the gate.

Here comes the fun part of this boss fight. Your fireteam will come up on a long stretch of open ground. Then you run. Various Cyclopes will spawn to try and kill you, but they aren’t mission critical. The boss will continue to drop the Voltaic Overflow buff at various spots down the open stretch. If you follow it to the end of the path congrats! You just beat part one! There will be a loot chest near the end of the platform that you’ll get some raid loot!

Part 1.5 - Leaping Lily Pads

A fireteam passing through this section of the map.

Now you’ll continue on through the raid room, you’ll notice that the scenery is beautiful, there are lily pads scattered across the vines, and some of them are closed. To properly traverse the area you’ll have to shoot some of them open. Eventually you’ll get to the second part of the raid, the baseball diamond. There’s also a secret chest that I will link directions to at the bottom of the article.

Part 2 - Baseball, But for Keeps

A roamer fighting down one of the lanes of the Diamond

Now if any of you are in the US of A, or have at least seen a schematic of a baseball diamond then you’ll get the layout of this part of the raid. Basically there are 4 towers, lovingly referred to as Home, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. It’s a tower defense game but with four places to defend. You’ll have one person on each base, and two roamers that will rotate from home to 1st, and from 2nd to 3rd. An integral part of this step is, you guessed it, tethering. After you tether the box to the pillar each member of the fireteam (that are a part of the link) are given the “Entitled” buff. It basically means you can pop the shields on invulnerable enemies. Now to the nitty gritty.

Each base will have three lanes that spawn enemies. And across all three there will be 12 goblins and 3 minotaurs that have the invulnerable shield. When you get the entitled buff with the help of the roamers you’ll be able to take down the shielded enemies. You’ll hold off your tower and after a few angelic enemies spawn and get defeated you’ll get to the next step of part two.

Guardians lining up to defend the middle of the diamond from a horde of vex.

Once the gates in the middle lane open everyone has to book it to the actual center of the baseball diamond. You guys will line up once again and get buffs, then you’ll defend the central tower for one or two waves. After that you’re done with stage two, and you should get some decent loot!

Part 3 - Eye See You x1000

Here's an awesome diagram I found of the diamond!

So, after this you don’t actually progress, your next boss fight is at the center of the diamond. To start the next portion you’ll line up again from the box to the pillar. But this time there are a few new mechanics. You remember the tentacle harpy? It’s back and ready to actually fight.

Gambit team will basically play the game mode gambit but in the raid. Combining buffing with depositing motes in a pillar which will be at one of the bases. Once they deposit 30 motes the boss will go into a phase where you can actually damage it. Then they’ll rinse and repeat.

The Consecrated Mind opening up, revealing his weak points to the guardians.

Boss team will basically buy time and distract the boss while gambit team deposits. You’ll follow the boss and pick up his voltaic overflow again. After getting the overflow the boss will open up and charge up an attack and also immobilize you. You’ll see either the inner, or the outer, set of eyes light up red. Tell your team which set lights up red because you’ll all have to shoot those eyes. Every once in awhile, you might have to jump onto the voltaic overflow expecting to die.

Hopefully if everything goes well you’ll get damage phase, the boss will move to a new area, then fully open up for a huge charge attack. This will wipe your party if you don’t take it down. After this, the boss will enter a temporary vulnerable phase, do your best to damage it here. Once it’s invulnerable again just rinse and repeat, at the end you’ll get a couple of raid items!

Part 3.5 - Milk Waterfall

This is my hunter, valiantly playing the trombone in front of the milk waterfall

The only thing to note at this part of the raid is that there is a secret chest that’s basically right along the path, and that there is an extremely scenic overview of a waterfall of vex lifeblood, which is lovingly referred to as milk by the Destiny community.

Part 4 - Big Ol’ Boss Boy

Sanctified Mind, Sol Inherent, moments before getting stomped by 6 guardians.

Now you’ve made it to the final part of the raid. This is where boys become men, girls become women, and baby robots become slightly older robots. You’ll have three teams for this portion. A build team, and two mote teams. Let’s cover the basics of the boss fight before covering the specific team jobs.

The basic rules of this boss fight are simple, you wipe ads, then you trigger a portal by shooting a spot on the boss. The way my fireteam did it was left, left, right, right. Anyone outside will be expected to open portal

The build team will stay outside and rebuild platforms using the tethers, they will also be on permanent enemy clearing duty. They’ll also be integral in linking the chain to the boss to trigger the damage phase.

The mote teams have the most difficult part of this step. They have to coordinate entry into two different portals, and clear invulnerable enemies once they dunk their motes, (since dunking gives them the enlightened buff). It’s a pretty straight forward boss fight, but you have to kill this boss before it’s fourth stage or else it enrages and wipes the team.

Part 5 - The End

That's it, there's only the chest left, you've beaten the raid and you can get your loot! Just be sure not to die of fall damage on the way to the chest, it's kind of embarrassing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are a few articles that helped me when I was prepping for the raid (Which as of this article's upload was an hour ago!)
Do you need a video to show you how to get the raid done? I know I did, just to make sure you have a real time walk through here's a link to the video I watched before raiding.
A fireteam was able to beat the final boss in one phase, and that's pretty awesome! I wish I knew how they did it
And yes, just like in Vault of Glass in Destiny 1 someone figured out how to cheese the Consecrated Mind. It's pretty funny!
In conclusion, it took me about 8 hours of grinding to get all of the raid done, can you beat that? Tell me your times in the comments! :)
