Monthly Games to Play/Watch

So this is a new segment that I want to start doing monthly. Basically it’s a top 5 games that recently came out or are about to come out. Think of it like me just putting my steam wishlist online.

#5 Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Release

Now, if this was last October Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) would be much higher on my list, as in on the top. That being said, the fact that it is still RDR2 is what lands it on this list. I’ve been waiting for a year for the release on PC, in fact, I almost didn’t buy the game to wait for it to be on pc, but I couldn’t do it to myself. Hopefully with the addition of PC players to the Red Dead landscape Rockstar will add even more content to their online game mode. I’m excited to re-experience Arthur Morgan’s story on my computer, and fall back in love with the wild west, yee haw fellow gamers.

#4 Cyberpunk 2077

Dear god, I can’t not be excited about this game. It’s still a couple of months out, but it lands

the number four spot just because I’m nerdgasming over it already. I was already on board when I saw the integration of tech and the human experience. Then I found out that it was going to be made by CD Projekt Red; the same people who made the infamous game series The Witcher. Basically I was sold pretty early on, basically as soon as I found out it was being made. It mashes a few of my favorite themes in gaming, the future, dystopia, and gritty action that can only be achieved through intense combat.

#3 The Outer Worlds

Following the trend that I’ve set, more future. I am extremely excited for this game to finally be in my library. The only thing stopping me from getting it and abandoning my social life is monetary constraints. But it’s made by the same people who made Fallout New Vegas, which is arguably one of the better Fallout games made recently. Obsidian asked Bethesda if they could make another, and Bethesda said no, so Obsidian made this game and it looks like space Fallout. I hate to speculate since it’s been out for a while now, but I haven’t played it yet and have been avoiding spoilers to get a real experience with the game. Let’s hear it for this middle finger to Bethesda! (I’m kidding Todd Howard, please don’t re-release Skyrim again)

#2 Jedi Fallen Order

This barely beats out The Outer Worlds just because of my nerd tendencies to worship anything that has the Star Wars logo. This is also a future esque game, and this franchise is what sparked my love for the future themes in gaming. That being said, you play as a Jedi Padawan that survived Order 66, and you look a lot like Ian Gallagher from Shameless. I’ve seen maybe the first 5 or so minutes, and it plays like Sekiro. Unfortunately, probably due to the mouse in charge, there isn’t much dismemberment in the game, except for droids. There is a parry system that lets you deal a ton of damage to your opponent. It looks like a super fun, dark souls esque, look at life after Order 66 for a Jedi.

#1 Pokemon Sword and Shield

I know, I know, this is a very controversial choice to top my list. I have my reasons though. I haven’t played a Pokemon game since Pokemon Black and White, and since I’m an adult who can make terrible financial decisions I bought a switch just for Super Smash Bros. This will give me a game other than that and The Binding of Isaac to play on it. I’m also a national pokedex support(in case you didn’t know, not all Pokemon will be available in the game, only a select few will.). However, I like that they’re limiting you to use the Pokemon in the region. I personally think that they should implement the national pokedex for endgame content. It’s basically set in Pokemon’s equivalent of the UK, A.K.A. the Galar region. Also Charizard got a fourth form, called Gigamax, and it’s pretty wild. It’s basically a Charizard mixed with the Rock from Moana.

To The Next Decade and Away!

Hey guys, I first and foremost want to thank you all for following the journey that this blog has taken thus far. I’m really happy with this. I’ve found that it’s pretty therapeutic, plus I’d be talking about most of these games anyway, I might as well out those thoughts out into the internet.

The real reason I started this blog was for a class that I’m taking at Longwood University. I’m a communication studies major with a concentration in digital media. I was tasked by a professor to create a blog that’s interesting, and also to run and market for the blog for 8 weeks. While that may be only two months I’ve found that it was extremely fun, and I enjoyed it just about as much as I do video editing classes!

But enough about that, I plan to keep on keeping on with the blog, I even want to ramp up my posting. I plan on posting three times a week on various gaming subjects, be it reviews or opinions or even walk-throughs. The next article that'll come out will be a review of Outer Worlds (Hopefully!)

If not that, I'll probably do something with Borderlands 3, but until then, thank you all so much, and I'll see ya around!
